About Me

Background

Hi, I’m Lisa Grimes! I was born and raised in Minnesota. When I graduated high school, I left my small town in Minnesota and moved across the country to Tampa, Florida, to attend the University of Tampa. It was a significant change for me, as I had never lived outside of Minnesota before. When I moved to Tampa, I didn’t know anyone. My freshman year was in 2020 and was very unconventional because of COVID-19. One of my biggest challenges was meeting new people and making friends. I joined Delta Phi Epsilon sorority at the beginning of my freshman year. Within the sorority, I quickly met new people and made friendships I still have. The experience taught me the importance of adaptability, independence, and open-mindedness. The change allowed me to grow into a more outgoing and confident person. During my time in Tampa, I fell in love with the state of Florida. I love the weather and the outdoor lifestyle. Health and fitness has always been important to me. I enjoy going on walks on Bayshore, going to the beach, and playing beach volleyball to stay active. I’m grateful for the opportunity to live in such a beautiful part of the country.

My Passions

Travel

I have always loved to travel and explore new cities, experience different cultures, try new foods, and broaden my world perspective. I will study abroad for six weeks in Florence, Italy, this summer, 2023. Travel is a great way to create lifelong memories and have fun adventures.

Marketing

Marketing allows me to be creative while working towards a career. My interest in marketing has only grown since switching my major to Marketing. I enjoy learning in my Marketing classes and am excited to explore the industry further.

Health and Fitness

I enjoy living a healthy lifestyle and consistently working on myself to improve my overall quality of life. I often go to the gym and participate in outside activities. I also love to find new healthy recipes to try.

Ethical Code

Punctuality

I feel it is important to respect other peoples time and your commitments by being on time. I like to give myself extra time to arrive somewhere to avoid the unnecessary stress of being late.

Diversity and Inclusion

I have always felt that diversity and inclusion are important. I think that everyone should be valued and respected regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and age.

Kindness

Treat people the way you want to be treated is a rule I live by. I think kindness is important because it can make someone feel valued and respected which can lead to stronger relationships.

Open-Mindedness

I try to always be open-minded and consider and respect new ideas, perspectives, and beliefs that may be different from my own.
