Experiencing the buzz of a big city is an irreplaceable feeling. Cities are full of energy and excitement. They are the centers of entertainment, innovation, and culture. Life never stops. Even when the night begins, cities are lit up throughout the night. Skyscrapers and iconic monuments create breathtaking skylines. Different cultures blend together because people from all around the world come to visit big cities.
Throughout my life, I have loved to travel. My parents enjoyed taking vacations when I was younger. I visited Tampa, Florida, for the first time on a family vacation. That vacation was part of the reason I applied to the University of Tampa. I grew up in a small town in Minnesota which I loved, but as I grew older, I wanted to explore new places and move on from the town I grew up in. When my family went on trips to big cities, I admired the liveliness and number of activities available. We went to cities such as New York, Houston, Orlando, and Phoenix in the United States as well as Paris, France.
I moved to Tampa because college was my opportunity to leave my hometown and live in a city. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I love living in Tampa and experiencing city life. The University of Tampa is home to students from all over America as well as many international students. Having friendships from all around has allowed me to visit places such as Chicago, Los Angeles, and Fort Lauderdale. My first time visiting a big city on my own was when I was 18. My friend and I drove to Chicago to meet my future freshman-year roommate. It was a great experience. I saw the Navy Pier and road the Ferris wheel, visited Millennium Park and touched the infamous bean, and admired the many murals painted all over the city.
During my junior year spring break, I went with a group of my friends, and we visited Los Angeles and Hollywood. I saw the Walk of Fame, Rodeo Drive, the Hollywood sign, and Long Beach. California was a beautiful place, and I enjoyed the trip. I also traveled to Las Vegas during my winter break. I stayed on the Las Vegas trip and visited some of the most iconic hotels there, such as Caeser’s Palace, the Venetian, and MGM Grand.
Each city I visited has been different, and I want to continue to travel to new cities. I want to expand my travels to cities around the world. I have made it a goal to travel to as many cities as possible. I plan to study abroad in Florence, Italy, this summer for six weeks and visit a friend of mine in Cairo, Egypt, for 12 days. I am looking forward to these trips and am excited to see where else I will go in the future.
